Paper jams come in many forms and guises, so we’ve written a quick overview of what can cause a paper jam, and How to fix Canon Printer Paper Jam Issue. Paper Is Actually Jammed..?? Who’d have thought it, paper… that is jammed? This paper should be easily visible in the printer, most often still visible from the paper tray. Once you’ve found the jam, try to gently remove it from the printer. If the paper is properly stuck do not force it, and get in touch with the manufacturer of your machine for help/advice. All paper has a gsm figure, which is the ‘grams per square meter’ weight of the paper. Your printer has a recommended min/max weight it can use, and using paper outside these values means the rollers either can’t pick the paper up, or paper gets stuck during printing. e.g. Most Canon printers have a maximum accepted weight of 300 gsm, using heavier paper just won’t work! If you’ve switched to a new type of paper, it may be your culprit. A Cartridge Causing A Paper Jam Error?? As odd as it may seem, cartridge errors can cause paper jams, through a “not recognised” or “cartridge empty” error. Have you recently replaced one of your cartridges?
Has a cartridges has been reporting as low for a long time? If yes, replacing the relevant cartridge should get rid of your paper jam error. A ‘Phantom’ Piece Of Paper Is Stuck On The Sensor..?? Sometimes a small piece of paper can tear off and be lodged somewhere in the printer, in a location the sensor can pick up. This means your printer will say it is jammed, even though there is a mere scrap somewhere in your printer. If you suspect this might be the case, get your flashlight out and have a quick scan through the inside of the printer. If none of these seem to rectify your issue, it may just be a random printer error you can fix by removing the paper from your printer tray then restarting the machine. If this works, the error was likely caused by a bit of dust on the sensor or a random printer mishap.
